Each year, up to accidents are caused by sun glare, more than the accidents from slippery roads. So how do you prevent these catastrophes?
Window tinting helps block UV rays and glare to prevent potential accidents. Tint windows can help reinforce the glass, decrease the danger of theft, and improve the vehicle's appearance. It's a simple solution to multiple problems, and if you are interested, here is more info on how long it takes.
The length of time to tint your windows depend on various factors, such as:. It's advisable to tint windows in a controlled environment, such as a garage or a vehicle shop. The time required for the tint to dry varies according to the tint manufacturer, the kind of film, and the weather conditions. In general, the more metallic the film, the longer it will take to dry. Tinting a pair of front doors takes less than 45 minutes.
Sedans take approximately 1. If any tint or adhesive has to be removed, it adds 30 minutes to the tinting process. Glass Tint USA estimates that it will take about 2 to 3 hours to tint a standard car. In the winter, it may take between two to five weeks for the tint to dry.
This is highly dependent on the temperature inside and outside your garage, the humidity level, and the number of sunny days you get.
Cold temperatures can delay the drying time. If the weather is very humid, it may be impossible to do the work correctly. Rain may also be an issue for the tinting process. During the winter, bubbles and streaks can form on the window. In the summer, window tint drying time takes about 3 to 5 days. Drying time depends on the materials used and the outside temperature. You must be wondering, "does tint cure faster in hot weather? If you see any bubbles, attempt to repair them before the tint dries; otherwise, the bubbles will get worse over time.
Ceramic tints may take between weeks to dry because of their heavy coating. Pets are also a concern but damage is usually confined to smudges that just need to be cleaned. The hard scratch-resistant coating found on quality window film products do an excellent job protecting window tint from everyday use as well as kids and pets. A word of caution is to remember window tinting is installed on the inside of the glass and is usually coated with a high quality scratch resistant layer for protection.
Take care when loading and unloading objects with sharp or hard edges, boxes, sporting equipment, etc. It is possible to tear even the best window tinting material with a sharp or hard object hitting against the tint.
Glass without tinting, or with factory window tint, can be damaged in this fashion also. If you accidentally cause damage to the film, the cost of re-doing the window is generally inexpensive.
Unfortunately, these types of damage are not covered under the warranty. This felt functions as a trap for small particles of dirt when you roll your windows up or down. Some vehicles have both sides lined, some only have the exterior side. When only the exterior side is lined it makes the interior more susceptible to trapping dirt and debris. Then when you roll your windows up or down, the dirt, or sometimes even the hard plastic of the stripping itself, can cause the film to scratch.
Purpling occurs when ultraviolet rays from the sun break down dies in the window film. All window films will develop some level of discoloration over time. The higher the quality of the film the longer the period of time it will take for discoloration to become noticeable. Does the tint go on the outside or inside? Will you travel to my home to tint my vehicle? If your below that and you live where the sun is not "strong" then I would say wait atleast 24hours.
I used to tint and that was the golden rule, when in doubt 24 hours min.. It is better to be safe than sorry. And don't be concerned if your bubbles don't disappear in the 1st week - the better the tint, the longer it takes. Mine weren't completely gone until 3 weeks later, and that was with parking outside in Texas in the summer every day.
For those of you that rolled down or cleaned the inside of your newly tinted windows a day after and nothing went wrong, that's fine. It's just the shop's way of reducing liability and the chance of something bad happening. Honestly, if the wait is one day or three, it's no BFD either way. I got mine tinted on a Saturday in June, parked it outside all week, then when I drove it again the next weekend, it was all good.
No skin off my teeth waiting a week. Every one I've had done, I've engaged the window "kill" switch and put masking tape over the driver's side switches to remind me, "No, no, no! Tint shop I have been using puts a pre-printed sticker over the window switches that says do not roll windows down for 24 hours.
Very helpful! Yeah Same here. They put it on the window switches too. Except when I took it off the passenger side, it left a nasty trail of sticky residue Please log in or register to reply here.
